6 October 2008

Luanda — Rapper Big Nelo said last Saturday in Luanda that the Angolan people should necessarily show solidarity to the victims of the natural calamity in Cuba, as they did a lot for Angola, in the most difficult moments.

Speaking to ANGOP, at last Saturday's fundraising concert, which was attended by the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, and First Lady Ana Paula dos Santos, Big Nelo underlined that solidarity is the most noble gesture that a human being can have, reason why the national singers and the public participated in the show in favour of the Cuban people.

"For example, I wouldn't feel well if I didn't take part in this event. Therefore, my performance to help the Cuban brothers was beneficial", said the Angolan rapper.

The sharing of experiences and stage with the Cuban orchestra Caramelo Son, the singer said, strengthened the existing relations between Cuba and Angola.

On his turn, the shows producer, the Angolan musician Santocas stated that the musicians prepared themselves and they did their best to help the victims of the hurricanes in Cuba.

The money raised from the sale of the admission tickets for the cultural show will be donated to the victims of the natural catastrophe in that Caribbean country.

Besides Cuba's Caramelo Son Orchestra, made up by nine women, the event was also enlivened by the Angolan artists Ary, Bangão, Big Nelo, Zecax, Dom Caetano, Paloma, Danny and Yetu, Yola Semedo, The Kings band, Gomes, Kelly Silva, and the dance group Yaka.
