Luanda — The Angolan Culture minister, Rosa Cruz e Silva, said the Saturday evening music show was a magnificent gesture of the Angolan people's solidarity with Cuba, victims of hurricanes.
The minister spoke to ANGOP at the solidarity concert held on Saturday in Atlântico Cinema, in Luanda, with the performance of the Cuban all-female orchestra "Caramelo Son" and Angolan artists.
At the event, which was attended by the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos and the First Lady, Ana Paula dos Santos, the Culture minister said that the Angolan people showed that they also feel the problems faced by Cuban people due to the natural catastrophe.
"This cultural manifestation served to express our solidarity. It is a kind of return for what the Angolan people might receive from their Cuban brothers at the most difficult moments", she underlined.
Rosa Cruz e Silva emphasised that the cultural show was also one more opportunity that Angolan people had to assess the Cuban artistic expression.
The solidarity event was promoted by Chamavo Show Promotion, Cadet Association, Caimaneiros Association and LS-Produções. However the entrepreneurial Chamavo group was the official sponsor of this cultural show.
The Cuban Embassy in Angola, the Provincial Government of Luanda, the Ministry of Culture, the ruling MPLA party Luanda Province committee, as well as other business and media institutions also provided their support to the event that aimed at raising funds to help the victim of the storms in Cuba.
