Angola: National Team's Coach Promises to Improve Performance

Luanda — The caretaker coach of Angola's senior males soccer team, Álvaro de Almeida "Mabi", this Monday here promised to maintain the work carried out by his predecessor and seek to improve the team's performance.

Mabi de Almeida, who was Oliveira Gonçalves' assistant at the helm of the national squad, affirmed this to the press at the end of the first training session held at Cidadela stadium, in Luanda.

Mabi de Almeida will only manage the national team in next Sunday's match against Niger, at Coqueiros stadium, which qualifies to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

According to the new coach, it was not an easy replacement taking into account the period in which he worked with under Oliveira Gonçalves, but considered it necessary.

Angola is in group 03 with seven points, in second place, the same as Uganda, in third. Benin leads with 12 points. Niger is at the bottom of the table with three points.
