Luanda — The provincial governor of Luanda, Francisca do Espírito Santo, this Monday affirmed that her sector is carrying out social works with view to turn the Angolan capital into a harmonious city.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the main event of the World Habitat Day which Luanda hosted this year, at Talatona Conventions Centre, Francisca do Espírito Santo referred that the city is being reconstructed so that all its citizens live well and with dignity and tourists who visit the city can feel comfortable.
"This is why we are here to commemorate the World Habitat Day and welcome you and show our availability to make our invited guests fell at home in this city of Luanda which is heading towards development", she added.
The World Habitat Day which is celebrated every first Monday of October was attended by the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, government officials, by the under-secretary-general of the United Nations and the executive director of this organisation's Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT), the Tanzanian Anna Tibaijuka, as well as national and international housing experts.
