Angola: Cabinet Council Okays Government Organogram

Luanda — Angola's Council of Ministers Monday in Luanda approved, at its first extraordinary session, a Bill stipulating the government's organogram, its component and functioning, the way of deliberation and competencies of the President of the Republic, while head of the Government, and the Prime-minister, as his assistant in coordinating and leading the Executive.

Approved during a session presided over by the Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, the legal diploma establishes as governance sectors the Ministries of National Defence, Home Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Economy, Territory Administration, Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, Justice, Planning, Finances, Commerce, Hotel and Tourism and Agriculture.

This also includes the sectors of Fisheries, Industry, Oil, Geology and Mining, Environment, Science and Technology, Urbanisation and Housing, Public Works, Transports, Energy, Telecommunications and Technologies of Information, Health, Education, Culture, Social Welfare, Family and Women Promotion, Former Combatants and War Veterans, Youth and Sports, Mass Media, and the secretaries of State for Rural Development and Higher Education.

The first meeting of the Angolan Executive approved the Regime of the Cabinet Council's Standing Commission, as the organ of support to directing the political and strategic performance of the Government, operating in the interval of the Collegial organ's sessions.

The Regime also determines that the economic team of Cabinet Council's Standing Commission is a technical organ supporting the direction of the head of Government and of direct assistance to the functioning of the Standing Commission.

Coordinated by the Economy minister, Manuel Nunes Júnior, the economic team comprises ministers of Planning, Ana Dias Lourenço, of Finances, Severim de Morais, of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security, Pitra Neto, governor of Angola's Reserve Bank (BNA), Amadeu Maúricio, as well as the economic Advisors to the President of the Republic and Prime-Minister, respectively.

At the Monday's meeting, the Government directed on working out of a National Plan, for 2009-2013 period, the Government programme of 2009 and the General State Budget (OGE) for next same year.
