Nigeria: Young Talented Wins Lagos Zone II

Lagos — The Ikeja Zone of the Cowbell U-16 Grassroots Competition, which kicked off penultimate weekend, finally came to an end Sunday at the Nigerian Airforce Base football pitch in Ikeja with Young Talented FC of Ajegunle defeating Ajagha Babes FC of Surulere 2-0 in the grand finale to lift the coveted trophy.

The final encounter, which was watched by a capacity crowd, saw the Ajagha Babes boys dominating play for most of the first half but they could not convert the numerous chances that came their way before eventually succumbing to their more purposeful opponents who scored two goals through Chibuzor Igwe in the 69th minute and Sikiru Alimi in the 82nd minute.

Young Talented FC therefore carted home the winner's trophy and the prize money of N50, 000 while runners-up, Ajagha Babes and third place winners, Rashnart FC went home with N30, 000 and N20, 000 respectively.

The highest goalscorer award, which attracts a cash prize of N10, 000, was won by Ajagha Babes' striker, Omamuli Toju who scored nine goals.
