Angola: Sports Ministry Committed to Staff Training

Luanda — The minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, on Monday here considered as one of the initial priorities of his sector the training and upgrading of staff for the proper functioning of the institution.

Speaking to journalists during the ceremony of formal introduction to the Ministry's board, the successor of Marcos Barrica stated that the governance programme, which was approved in the light of last September 05 legislative elections, is very clear in regards to tasks to the accomplished in the next four years.

He referred that updating the legislation in force, the expansion of sports and its structuring in the perspective of high competition, so as to improve performance at every international competition.

The improvement and construction of sports infrastructures was also stressed by Gonçalves Muandumba as priority in tasks attributed to his Ministry, during the ceremony in which he officially received the portfolio from his predecessor.

The minister called for engagement of workers and reminded a phrase of the speech of the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, in which he recommends more work and fewer speeches.

Gonçalves Muandumba is the sixth minister of Youth and Sports, since the creation of the Ministry in February 11, 1989, under the law 3/89, first article, which determined the abolition of the former Secretary of State for Physical Education and Sports.
