Pallisa — The Archbishop of Tororo Archdiocese, His Grace, Denis Kiwanuka Lote on Sunday conferred the Sacrament of Matrimony on 65 couples in a mass wedding at Kamuge-Linga Catholic Mission in Pallisa District.
The wedding service began at 11.00am and ended at 3.00pm.
Bishop Kiwanuka was assisted by the acting parish priest Kamuge-Linga Parish, Fr. Godfrey Okello and the Parish Priest of Butebo Parish, Fr. Peter Othieno.
Mr John Kagodo from Kadesok village in Kibaale Sub-county was the oldest groom at 78 while his wife, Ms Anna Grace Anyait was aged 52 years.
Mr Paul Kauta from Akwateta village also in Kibaale Sub-county was the second oldest groom at 70 while his wife, Ms Veronica Akia was the oldest bride at 60 years. Mr Vigilio Tukei was the third oldest groom at 67 while his wife, Ms Elizabeth Arieba was 52.
Bishop Kiwanuka said the Sacrament of Matrimony shows the existence of love between a man and woman in their family.
"This issue of wedding has been burning in your hearts for a long time. But today you have overcome it," he said.
