THE winners of the MTC Premier Rugby League will take home N$55 000, according to figures revealed by the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU) yesterday.
The runners-up will pocket N$40 000, while the third- and fourth-place finishers will take home N$15 000 and N$10 000 respectively.
In the First League, the winners stand to win N$25 000 for their efforts throughout the season, while the second best team in that league will take home N$15 000.
Third-place finishers will be given N$7 500, while the fourth best team will walk away with N$3 000.
The semi-finals of the premier league will be played on October 18, while the quarter-finals of the first league are slated for October 10 and 11.
The finals of the two divisions will be decided on October 25 at the Hage Geingob Stadium.
SUBURBS LEAD Current premiership log leaders Western Suburbs are in a strong position to capture that title, but they first have to find their way around Rehoboth when they square up in the semi-finals for a final spot.
In the other semi-final, Wanderers will lock horns against Reho Falcons in a match that can go either way.
Suburbs are currently at the top of the premiership table with 64 points, followed by Wanderers and Reho Falcon tied on 62 points.
Rehoboth are third on 55 points.
All teams have played 16 matches in the league.
Despite in top position, Suburbs have scored 51 tries to date, compared to Wanderers who have dotted down 61 times, but Suburbs have 13 wins compared to Wanderers who have 11.
Suburbs have conceded 32 tries, while Wanderers conceded 34.
At the bottom of the table in premiership, which has nine teams, are Grootfontein, who have only 22 points from their 16 matches so far.
Jaguars are in eighth position with 32 points.
Jaguars, with players from the Katutura and Khomasdal suburbs, have managed to score 25 tries in their quest for glory in the competitive league, while they have conceded 75 tries, the highest in the league.
In the First League, for the central region, Mariental are on top of things with a comfortable 66 points, followed by Western Suburbs II in second spot on 60 points.
The First League for the northern clubs sees Windhoek I in command on 56 points, while Walvis Bay I are in second on 55.
Otjiwarongo I are in third position on 49 points.
