South Africa: Fortune on Trial in Italy

7 October 2008

Former Bafana Bafana and Manchester United midfielder Quinton Fortune is on trial in Italy at Serie B side Brescia.

The 31-year-old, who has 47 international caps for South Africa, is set to undergo a medical at the Italian outfit, who issued a statement on their official website.

"Brescia announces that Quinton Fortune will undergo a medical and will begin training with the first team.

"The club does not exclude the possibility that the player, who is a free agent, will wear the Brescia colours in the coming days."

Fortune, who made six appearances for Bolton Wanderers in the 2006/07 season, had unsuccessful trials at Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Sheffield United.
