Nigeria: Nwoko Assures on World Cup

7 October 2008

Flamingos captain, Maria Nwoko has promised that her side would do the nation proud when the Women Under-17 World Cup starts on October 28.

"We are very prepared to represent Nigeria and Africa very well in the upcoming World Cup in New Zealand.

"Nigeria should expect nothing but victory at the end of the championship. We will never let Nigeria down in the competition," Nwoko disclosed to KickOffNigeria.com.

"All the three departments of the team are solid and capable of performing creditably well at the World Championship. All of us are fired up by our coaches to do the nation proud. Our main target is the Cup.

"We want to bring the Cup back to the country like the Under-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets did in 1985 when the cup was first introduced. I can assure you that we won't disappoint soccer loving Nigerians.

"Our coaches and the Football Federation have really prepared us well enough to win this competition," Nwoko told KickOffNigeria.com.
