Angola: Diplomats Urged to Act With Patriotism, Mission Spirit

Luanda — Angolan Foreign minister, Assunção dos Anjos, Tuesday in Luanda, urged the officials of his sector to work with patriotism and spirit of mission in order to help attain the country's goals.

Assunção dos Anjos made the appeal during a ceremony of presentation of the new minister to the Foreign Ministry workers.

The new Angolan Foreign minister stated on the occasion he will do his best to continue with the intense diplomatic activity that characterised the action of his predecessor that over the last few years projected the country's image.

He added that there will be adjustments of conjunctural, structural and organisative nature imposed by the need to match the country's external policy to the new reality.

The minister said the new reality has to do with an inclusive and democratic country, with a permanent growth from the economic point of view.

Assunção dos Anjos spoke of the need for an interaction with other countries and international organisations in the search for solutions to the problems that concern the humanity like security and international security, the permanent assurance of the peoples' rights, wellbeing and development.

The minister also said he will maintain a permanent dialogue with his predecessor for an exchange of knowledge and ideas to the benefit of the implementation of the Angolan external policy.

In his turn, the ex-minister, João Miranda, thanked the Foreign Ministry workers, adding he will continue making a contribute in a friendly and loyal way in favour of the country.

According to him, the diplomatic front was so important in the most delicate moments of the country's history, like that of war, when a combination of effort led to the achievement of peace.

The ceremony was witnessed by ambassadors, directors and officials of the various departments of the Foreign Ministry.
