Angola: Country and UN to Outline Cooperation at World Meeting

Luanda — Cooperation between he Government of Angola and UN-Habitat will be outlined at the 4th World Urban Forum set for November 3-6 this year in China.

This was announced Tuesday in Luanda by the United Nations under secretary general, Anna Kamajulo Tibaijuka.

According to the executive director of UN-Habitat, alongside the said meeting she will meet with the Angolan minister of Urbanisation and Housing, Diakumpuna Sita José, for a review of the talks held in the country on the issue.

In China, she added, the two parties will outline the details for the start of the mentioned cooperation that, to her, might reach the areas of security of tenure of the populations living in high density areas, training of administrators, funding of construction of houses and other aspects related to the sector.

Anna Tibaijuka on the occasion defended for African cities the horizontal model houses.

The 4th World Urban Forum will discuss and exchange views on various aspects related to housing, sustained urbanisation, particularly the issue of houses for the youths and the most needy populations.

The UN under secretary general who arrived Sunday in Angola to attend the celebrations of the World Habitat Day, on October 6, left Luanda Tuesday for Nairobi (Kenya), the UN-Habitat and UN Environment Programme headquarters.
