Conakry — Angolan ambassador to Guinea Conakry, Brito Sozinho, Monday in Conakry, met with the local Foreign minister, Mamadou Lamarana Bah, whom he informed on the legislative election held in the country on September 5 this year.
During the meeting, the diplomat stressed the peaceful and transparent way the poll went, as well as the high voters participation.
The non-resident ambassador also spoke of the Government's main achievements in the six years of peace, particularly in the sectors of rehabilitation, reconstruction and construction of social, productive and economic infrastructures.
Brito Sozinho also recalled the historical relations that unite the two countries, highlighting the fact that Guinea Conakry provided shelter to Africa's liberation movements, including the now Angola's ruling MPLA party.
He underlined the need for the two countries to relaunch the existing bilateral cooperation and deepen the contacts started in the domain of migratory issues, through a more regular exchange of official delegations.
In response, Mamadou Lamarana Bah, said the two countries should continue working together and defended the need for a permanent dialogue so the communities from both countries feel protected wherever they are.
Brito Sozinho is Angola's non-resident ambassador to Guinea Conakry sine August 2007, with the same status in Gambia, where he was accredited in February last year.
He is in Conakry since a week ago, having attended the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the national independence, on October 2.
The ceremony was also attended by the presidents of Sierra Leone, Mali, Cote D'ivoire, Guinea Bissau, Liberia, Gambia and Senegal and the deputy president of Ghana, besides representatives of South Africa, Morocco, Algeria, China, Serbia and France.
In Conakry, the Angolan diplomat held meetings with officials of the Africa Department of the local Foreign Ministry, with whom he discussed issues related to the relaunch of cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the sectors of natural resources.
