Kampala — The Nation Media Group (NMG) Chief Executive Officer Linus Gitahi will lead a contingent of 30 foreigners as the East Africa Nation Golf Classic makes its debut in Uganda this weekend.
Gitahi is among the staff members that will take part in the regional event to be hosted at the par-72 Uganada Golf Club (UGC) Kitante course. NMG senior employees James Kinyua, Abdalla Bakah, Richard Wanjalla, Hazel Katana and Daily Nation reporter Larry Ngala will participate.
"The CEO (Gitahi) will lead the foreign legion that includes two Tanzanian players. The bulk of the players will be Ugandan and we expect the tournament to be exciting and competitive," NMG publicity and events coordinator Katana said yesterday. Katana also disclosed that all participating golfers will receive NMG gift packs while several lucrative prizes would be won by the best performing individuals.
A fully-sponsored trip to either the Desert Classic in Dubai or Pro-Am event in South Africa early next year is at stake for the overall winner. Other offers include holidays in Zanzibar and Mombasa.
