A total of ten junior Bombers will participate in the inaugural AIBA Youth World Championships due on October 25 in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Uganda Amateur Boxing Federation (UABF) publicity secretary Willy Kyambade confirmed the development yesterday. "Fifteen boxers are already in non-residential camp with the national coach (Jimenez) but we shall select only ten pugilists for the championships," said Kyambadde.

The AIBA championship, which features bouts of four rounds of two minutes across 11 weights categories as per the senior class, will involve boxers aged 17 and 18 who will compete over five days.

The semifinals and finals take place on October 31 and November 1. "We have the right age for each respective weight for the tourney. If the boxers can learn a few basics before the championship, then we will see results in future," added Kyambade. The AIBA Youth World Championships replaces the Junior World Championships which started in 1979 and was last held in Morocco 2006
