Tunis — In an article written on September 18, 2008 the daily newspaper Le Temps has announced that the UK based low cost airline Thomsonfly, will launch a new service to Monastir as of November 2008.
The airline which operates from the London -Luton airport, flies to 87 international destinations from 25 UK cities such as, Birmingham, Cardiff, Gatwick, Coventry, London, Belfast, Manchester and Newcastle.
The French language daily notes that low cost flights to Monastir will significantly boost the English tourism market.
Le Temps also writes that Tunisia's southern destinations such as Djerba and Tozeur which attract some 46,000 British visitors a year, could well attract twice or three times as many visitors, had there been direct flights from London to these two cities.
The article concludes that Tunisia welcomed some 312,000 British tourists in 2007 and given an appropriate promotion campaign in the UK, is well poised to attract 400,000 visitors in 2008.
