Tunis — The Medina Festival is definitely full of surprises. After a series of great shows, the select audience of the relatively small but beautiful "Dar Hassine", was treated on Sunday to a stunning performance of the Southern Italian group-one should say troupe- named "Onda Mediterranea".
The group's seven musicians literally mesmerized the spectators present with a spectacle which proved a delight both to the eyes and ears.
Alternating the sound of various musical instruments with fire dancing in a clearly Zoroastrian reference, the troupe took the audience across boundaries to places such as Greece, Turkey, but especially Naples and Sicily.
The group which represents a blending of various musical traditions along with a distinctly troubadour like medieval influence, came up with an original performance which swept like a Mediterranean breeze over the Tunis Medina, carrying with it fragrances of other cultures and climes, at the same time so remote and yet so familiar.
