Ongwediva — nformation and Communication Technology Minister Joel Kaapanda has appealed to Namibians, especially the younger ones, to always stand still when a national flag is being lowered or hoisted.
Kaapanda issued this appeal while addressing pupils at the Mweshipandeka High School at Ongwediva in the Oshana Region over the weekend.
Kaapanda said the national anthem is another national symbol that deserved respect.
The Minister said he wants to see the youth displaying patriotism, which he described as a love for the country and a willingness to defend it.
He advised the pupils to be disciplined and refrain from alcohol and drug abuse if they want to succeed in life.
"Inspect yourself inside to change your life.
The key to success is knowing yourself, and remember, a positive attitude pays off," Kaapanda stressed.
Mweshipandeka High School is one of the two senior secondary schools at Ongwediva.
It was established some 25 years ago, and currently has 864 pupils, 35 teachers and 38 institutional workers.
