Lagos — The Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Taraba has suspended three of its councillors in Jalingo Local Government Council. The council's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ward Secretary, Danladi Mazang, announced the suspension in Jalingo at a press briefing on Monday.
He named the suspended councilors as Bitrus Daniel of Turaki "B" Ward, Babangida Bobbo of Kachalla Sambe Ward and Abubakar Galadima of Sarkin Dawaki Ward.
Mazang said that the councillors were suspended from the party because of their alleged "maladministration".
He said that the party has set up a seven-member committee to investigate the allegations levelled against the suspended councillors.
In a swift reaction, Mr. Bitrus Daniel, one of the affected councillors, has petitioned the state executive committee of the PDP over his suspension.
In the petition, Daniel accused the council's Chairman, Malam Ali Kona, of gross violation of the principles of due process in the award and execution of the council's projects.
However, Kona dismissed Daniel's allegations in a telephone conversation with the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN ) in Jalingo.
He described the allegations as "malicious and unfounded".
