Lagos — The Managing Director of Event Specialty (an event management outfit in Lagos), Mr. Sanya Oresanya, has expressed delight in educating young Nigerians about tourism potentials in the country.
He stated this in Lagos at a press conference to herald a five-day excursion for Secondary school students to the Obudu Cattle Ranch, Cross River State. His outfit Indomie Foods and the Obudu Cattle Ranch Management are collaborating to him, it is disheartening that some rich Nigerians take their kids to places such as Disney lands, United States (US), Caymaus Islands, the Caribbean Islands, for vacations, whereas, "nature has also blessed Nigeria with naturally endowed environment".
"Charity begins at home, Oresanya urged Nigerian youths who are the future leaders to be allowed to appreciate the country and tourism sites and resources. "It is in a bid to show case what we have within this great country of ours to our children of today, so that they can know that the most important reason for vacation is to enable them visit places that will give them lasting memories, hence, our choice of Obudu Cattle Ranch" he said.
Oresanya said that though tourism was supposed to be a high revenue earner "the tourist sites within the country have either been undervalued, undeveloped and unappreicated by the Nigerian populace due to neglect" .
He said that "the Obudu Cattle Ranch which is the first of its kind in Africa presents an unchanting scenery that evokes pleasure and vista with an altitude of 1,576 metres above sea level, the Ranch table land covers an area of 104 square kilometres. Oresanya further said that "the Ranch Resort is well-equpped modern facilities like an international five star hotel, an airstrip, a golf course, a canopy walk-way, wildlife park, waterfalls as well as the cable cab which is regarded as the longest and first of it's kind in this part of the world".
Other places of interest at the ranch, include the honey and fresh dairy farm and factories, a presidential villa etc.
