Tunisia: President Ben Ali Confers With Prime Minister on Evolution of Business

Tunis — Conferring on Monday with the Prime Minister, Mr Mohamed Ghannouchi, President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali focused on the evolution of Tunisia's business environment.

He also took cognizance of the latest business indicators and studies published by regional and international institutions specialized in the country's competitiveness and investment climate.

The Head of State issued instructions in view of further easing administrative procedures and reducing time constraints related to services and the realization of projects, while highlighting the importance of improving the implementation of the existing legislation and provisions, in order to stimulate the spirit of initiative, and to foster economic spaces and industrial areas.

The President of the Republic also recommended to boost the Industrial Modernization Program (PMI), to improve the quality of industrial products and to speed up the pace of upgrading of the agricultural sector an that of services, in view of strengthening their added value, in line with the objectives set up.

On the other hand, President Ben Ali was also briefed on the economic events scheduled on the forthcoming days, notably the Tunis Economic Forum and the International Information Technologies Forum (ICT 4 All Forum + 3).

He also recommended to improve preparations of these regional and international events, so as to make better known Tunisia's business environment, and to further promote investment opportunities and partnerships, in line with the national priorities set up for the coming period.

Besides, the Prime Minister, presented the Head of State with the agenda of the cabinet meeting due to be held later this week.
