Tunis — A research conducted by "SRI International" and "Intelligent Spas", ranked Tunisia second for most the profitable Spa and thalasso therapy business in the Middle East and North Africa region (MENA).
The research which ranks the UAE as coming first in the region, reports that Tunisia's 41 Spa and thalasso therapy facilities yield annual revenues of 86 million US Dollars, whereas the UAE's 212 facilities boast net gains of 268 million US Dollars. Saudi Arabia comes third with 52 million dollars and Egypt, in spite of its 146 Spa centers, is fourth with 43 million dollars.
According to recent surveys, more and more hotel guests are looking for Spa facilities when booking their rooms.
In Tunisia, tourist authorities in partnership with the national office for thermalism have recently launched an initiative to build more facilities, as well as to upgrade and rate, existing ones.
