Angola: Engraver Suggests Inclusion of Art in Education Syllabus

Luanda — The Angolan engraver António Feliciano "Kidá" said in Luanda last Tuesday that it is necessary to enrich the general education syllabus with artists subjects in order to sensitise and instil in children and youths the liking for culture.

Speaking to ANGOP, Kidá says that if there is a solid programme in primary schools, in which several arts are taught in theory and practical modules, the country will gain with it It is known that arts help to develop the intellect, therefore there is a necessity for integrating with rigour in the education syllabus, artistic themes to stimulate development, the artist said.

He added that the subject of Visual and Plastic Education (E.V.P), found in some levels of education, has not been enough to help the students to like art.

"Students need to know the origin of art, its importance and learn how to play, paint, sing and act in every school term. With this action, the country would have many more artists", he said.(UNAP).
