Lokoja — The head, Marketing and North-West operations of the African Independent Television ( AIT) Alhaji Ahmed Abdulraheem Ogido has been elected the Ohi of Ihima Chiefdom in Kogi State.
Alhaji Ahmed's election as the Ohi by the 18 member kingmakers council followed the selection meeting that lasted 10 hours at the local government council hall in Obangede, in ther Central Senatorial District of the state.
He scored eleven votes in the keenly contested election to beat his closest rival, Mr Christopher Ohvei who scored five votes. The Ohi elect has been adjudged as a man who has vast experience in traditional matters because of his closeness to the grassroots despite his vast travels and working experience. He was at a time staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served as Foreign service attachee at the embassy of Nigeria in Bangui from 1980 to 1983. He also served in the same capacity at the embassy of Nigeria in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from 1983 to 1986.
Alhaji Ahmed was the corporate affairs executive of DBN, Lagos in 1993 where he rose to become the Head of Events, Marketing and Promotions of the organisation from 1996 to 2001. He later joined AIT in 2001as head of marketing, Abuja Bureau and moved to the North Western operations before the present election.
