Kenya: Time Up for Roadside Homes

Oscar King'ori

8 October 2008

Nairobi — Property worth millions of shillings will be demolished at Archers Post Town to pave the way for the construction of the Isiolo-Moyale highway.

Owners of permanent and semi-permanent buildings had been given up to last week to pull them down or have them flattened.

By Wednesday, owners of the affected buildings and hired hands were busy demolishing their houses.

They, however, claimed that they had not been given enough time to pull down their buildings or move to other business premises.

The first phase of the Isiolo-Moyale road was commissioned last December.
