Nation Correspondent

8 October 2008

Nairobi — The Naivasha children's officer Peter Kabuagi has decried the rise in cases of child abuse in the area.

Of the 16 cases reported last month, four were defilement and 12 were of assault.

Speaking in his office on Wednesday, the officer said the number rose from 12 the previous month, with a slight decrease in defilement cases.

The officer noted that teenage pregnancies were also on the rise, citing eight cases of school-going girls.
