Ghana: Chelsea to Play in GPL

The Ghana Premier League will have a Chelsea on display next season after Bechem Chelsea beat BA United to pick up one of three places available in for division one sides in the Premier League.

The Brong Ahafo derby played out in neighbouring Kumasi ended in favour of Bechem Chelsea to give them the edge of their more establish rivals in the race to reach the top flight.

The other team through to the premiership is Sekondi Eleven Wise who have been out of the elite division for a decade. They booked their place with a 2-0 win over Samartex at the El Wak Stadium to pick the lone ticket in group.

Their qualification to the premier division will thrill the Western Region which now has two representatives in the top division.

Bechem Chelsea's qualification now means teams from the Brong Ahafo Region will sound so much like teams from London.

In addition to Bechem Chelsea, there is Berekum Arsenals next door in the same region. It is not music to the ears of many people.

There is still one place at stake in the premier division with Saint Mirren, Royal Knights and Power FC all in with a chance of sealing it.
