Angola: Interior Minster Suggests Adjustiments to Armed Forces

Luanda — Angolan minister of Interior, Roberto Leal Monteiro "Ngongo",Thursday in Luanda, spoke out of the need for the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), to adjust to the actual political moment experiencing the country.

This is part of a message he released to salute FAA that is turning 17 years of existence today,October 9.

"This anniversary is taking place at a particular moment of Angolans' life as with the holding of elections and emergence of the third Republic, new challenges emerge," says the Interior minister's message of congratulation. T

o him, there is need for training and upgrading of the members of the Armed Forces, with a view to a performance at the heights of the country's demands. "May we exalt, with pride, the deeds so far reached by FAA, namely in attaining peace.

Thanks to your engagement, in which we must highlight the sagacity, audacity and courage showed by the various commands, at higher, lower and intermediate levels, a high degree of the staff's operativety was guaranteed," reads the message.

Leal Monteiro, who is also a general, said that through a cooperation with the other organs of defence and security, FAA guarantee the country's socio-economic development, in an environment of tranquillity and harmony.

According to him, the defence of the nation, sovereignty and territorial integrity has been and will always be a honour to the armed forces.
