Uganda: Toolman Back With 'Gutujja'

Kampala — TOOLMAN'S best songs are always popular in nightclubs because they fit the clientele: rowdy and self-conscious.

That is why his previous releases, Kisumuluzo and Password, were all dance floor hits.

"My style is dancehall. If a song fails to send people to the dance floor, I consider it a flop, return to the studio and record something else," says the singer, whose big break came last year when he released Kisumuluzo.

The song earned the singer two Pearl of Africa Music (PAM) Awards nods last year.

Early this year, Toolman dropped the equally hot Password, which, even though not a big hit, kept his candle burning, earning him two nominations in this year's PAM awards for Best Afrobeat Single and Best Afrobeat Artiste.

He continued churning out song after song, but none of them could match his compositional brilliance on Kisumuluzo and Password.

However, his latest release, Gutujja, could be the perfect follow-up to the PAM Awards-nominated Password. It is very much in the same vein of his previous recordings: upbeat, hardcore dancehall, and also garnished with thought-provoking lyrics.

Gutujja is a piano-led story of lost love, heartbreak and reconciliation that is sure to cheer you up.

Unlike his previous recordings which feature production talents of Henry Kiwuwa, Gutujja was produced by D Records' Alan Okia.

If Kisumuluzo or Password impressed you, then you will like this one.
