Kampala — WHEN Mr. Hush released his debut album, Hotter Than Ever, about three years ago, it was a total flop. None of the 12 tracks on it attracted the public.
However, there is a saying that if you do not succeed at your first attempt, dust yourself off and try again.
And he has lived to do this. Mr. Hush went back to the drawing board, teaming up with producer Geoffrey of True Vine Studios.
The result were three haunting reggae-tinged tracks, which the singer describes as the most fulfilling of his works to date.
"These are just the first singles off my upcoming album," says Mr. Hush, whose real name is Rashid Kanwagi. He hopes to drop the album at the beginning of next year.
Listening to the album, you will instantly enjoy Tutu, which Hush describes as the most appropriate name for a girl he has madly fallen in love with. A haunting melody, chorus and the highly-danceable beat, all conspire to create a fine song.
In One Love, the singer preaches brotherhood amongst Ugandans, while Tuwafukuze is his stab at singing in Swahili.
These are all ear-friendly tracks, but Tutu remains a standout, and could well be the one to propel Mr. Hush to stardom. Only time will tell.
