Huambo — The chief of Staff of Angola Armed Forces (FAA), gen. Francisco Furtado, Thursday in central Huambo province, announced the construction of huge military training infrastructures in the region, as part of the army's rebuilding and modernisation.
Speaking to Angop, gen. Furtado said that under the programme of rebuilding and modernisation, a FAA academy, an all-arms officers school, the first military college and an institute will be built in Huambo province.
The officer assured that the works of rehabilitation of the ruined local military academy are underway, despite some delays.
"I am sure that next year the works of the academy, the officers all-arms school, the college and the institute, might start simultaneously, at a time the process of rebuilding and modernisation of the Angola Armed Forces is in progress," he said.
The FAA staff chief stated that the country has a forged and solid army, capable of fulfilling the missions assigned within the framework of the constitution and national defence.
Huambo is hosting the main event of the celebrations of the 17th anniversary of the Angola Armed Forces, chaired by the National Defence minister, Kundi Paihama, and attended by church entities, traditional authorities and members of the public.
