A practitioner, Dr Dapo Oyetunde, has advised workers in public and private organisations to undergo comprehensive medical check-up once in a year, to ascertain their health status.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos , Oyetunde underscored the importance of regular checkups for all workers, particularly those above 40 years.
He decried the high prevalence of sudden deaths among workers, adding that regular check would guarantee good health, necessary for increased productivity.
"Putting into cognizance that the life expectancy in Nigeria is 47 years, it shows that regular check up is required to prolong life," Oyetunde said.
He advised patients with silent killer diseases, such as diabetics, ulcer and other related ailments, to visit their specialists fortnightly.
The medical doctor also advised Nigerian workers to ascertain their HIV/AIDS status, while women should undergo cervical test, pap smear and mammogram scan, all to aid early detection of cancer ailments.
Oyetunde also urged the workers to visit the ear, nose and throat specialists, to prevent infection of those organs. (NAN)
