The residents of New-Karu Local Government of Nasarawa State have expressed their disappointment at the epileptic supply of electricity in the area by the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN).

LEADERSHIP gathered that for over six months now, residents have been in darkness in spite of the bills they pay every month. According to the reports, the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has not given them any explanation.

In an interview with LEADERSHIP, one of the residents, Madam Regina Ogakwu, said: I regret relocating to this area (Karu). Since we packed to this area, we have never had electricity one day. I have spent a lot of money in buying fuel for my generator."

She begged the authoritities to come to their rescue.

Ajah Onah, another resident, could not hide her disappointment with the unreliable service sprovided in the area by PHCN. She also called on government to come to their aid.

Mrs. Isaac Okwe also shared her own pains over the situation of PHCN in New-Karu.

She said: "Some of us who cannot afford a generator are suffering a lot here. I have a television and a fan and they serve as decoration in my home because there is no electricity supply for us to use them. I am pleading with government to tell PHCN to restore our light fast."

Mallam Musa on his own part, said: "To me, I have nothing to say over this issue because it is a surprising thing to me. Imagine the whole of this New-Nyanya and New-Karu in darkness for that long. It is a shame on the Nasarawa State government. If the state government wishes to restore the electricity here, let them go ahead. We are waiting."

All efforts made by this reporter to see the PHCN Area Manager proved abortive.
