Nigeria: Okorodudu Predicts Total Victory for Peters

10 October 2008

Commonwealth Games medallist, Jerry Okorodudu, has predicted an easy win for Samuel Peters over Ukraine's Vitali Klitschko in the Wold Boxing Council heavyweight fight which comes up in Berlin, Germany tomorrow Saturday.

Peter, dubbed the Nigerian Nightmare (30-1 with 23 knockouts), will be defending the title he won after beating Russia's Oleg Maskaev in Cancun, Mexico on March 8.

The 27-year-old hopes to dispatch Vitali before staging a challenge for the International Boxing Federation crown currently held by his brother, Vladimir.

Speaking in Lagos on Wednesday, Okorodudu, who was one of Peter's coaches in his amateur days, said the fight would be the easiest in the boxer's professional career and that Klitschko would struggle to avoid a knockout.

The retired professional boxer said, "Peter will win easily because he has been active unlike Klitschko. In professional boxing, it's not easy to come back after a short period and win a major fight.

"I understand that Klitschko has not been active since 2004. If that is correct he should prepare himself for defeat on Saturday.

There's no way he can withstand Peter's strong punches and power. I think Peter is ready for this fight and I see him smiling at the end of the fight on Saturday."

Klitschko, who boasts the highest overall knockout ratio of any heavyweight champion, said on Wednesday that not being in action for four years was no problem to him.

"I'm still the same Vitali! I'm ambitious, mentally strong and hard-working. I have trained for a world championship twice. I go to the gym everyday and I live a healthy life. It's not really a comeback for me, more like a fight between two world champions after an injury," he told Blid.
