Residents of Nyanya and Mararaba have called on the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police commissioner, Mr. John Haruna, to bring succour to them by removing the roadblock at Mopol junction check point.
Mr. Akanbi Omotayo, resident and motorist, said the removal of the road blockwill make passage on the road easier .
According to Mr. Omotayo, the road block constituted a lot of hardship to the residents and passers-by as the police officers usually narrowed the 3-lane road to one lane, making it very difficult to pass especially with considering the heavy volume of traffic on that route.
He said some people prefer to hang out in town after closing from their offices for fear the hold up that builds yo ib that stretch of road.
"Thank God for the removal of the obstacle at AYA, but while we were celebrating, the Nyanya obstacle was staring us in the face like a mountain. He called for the outright removal of the road block ."We know the CP has a listening ear and will not hesitate to act in the interest of the yearnings and aspirations of the FCT residents, especially in matters that affect the masses.
Mrs. Magareth Nwakpa, a resident of Masaka, said she worked in Wuse and that thought of facing the traffic jam chills her spine anytime she was heading home from the office .
She said the the drums still constituted some sort of obstacles to motorists .
She, therefore, called on the police commissioner to order the total removal of the drums from the road. Another motorist, Mr Emmanuel Nwachukwu, opined that the police could do occasional stop-and-search exercises if they have a tip off or are looking out for a particular vehicle "but they should not have a permanent roadblock there, "he counseled
