Kigali — Remera Buffaloes are in Kenya to test their credentials ahead of the famous Hima-Mak 10s scheduled for November 8-9 in Kampala, Uganda.
The national league champions who left Kigali on Wednesday are part of 24 clubs chasing for honors in the Nakuru Sevens tournament set for October 10-11 at Nakuru Athletics Club in Kenya.
Buffaloes are fancying their chances to progress past the pool stages after being drawn in Pool B alongside Nazarene, Daystar and Impala.
"If we play well, we have a genuine chance of getting to the quarter-finals," Buffaloes' forward Gerard Nsenga said before adding that the tournament is a good weighing scale for us before the Hima-Mak 10s.
"It's a different set-up but very handy as well"
Out of the six pools, Pool A and Pool F seem the toughest on paper.
Pool A involves USIU, Masinde, Kimathi and favorites Mwamba RFC who have a number of high profile ruggers in their ranks.
The 2007 Hima-Mak 10s champions boast of the likes of Kenya 7s captain Humphrey Kayange, Collins Injera, Horace Otieno and George Mbaye amongst others.
On the other hand, Pool F pitts Uganda, Mount Kenya, Strathmore and Harlequins.
The group winners and the two best runners-up advance to the Main Cup quarters.
