SLPP parliamentarian representing Kailahun district now residing at Goderich has collaborated with councilor Ibrahim Kabbah aka 'Small Borbor' to sensitize community members on the dangers of HIV/AIDS.
Honorable Robin Fallay said: "This is a community that is largely made up of youth and vulnerable women. As a member of the health oversight committee in parliament and a member of the steering committee, I deemed it necessary to pay some attention to the killer disease."
He urged the community to act against stigma adding: "We should not discriminate against people living with HIV/AIDS. Women and children are the most vulnerable and therefore demand attention. I want to create awareness among youth that they are leaders of tomorrow. Therefore, it is very pertinent to preserve the human resource base."
He said HIV/AIDS damages the man power base of any nation and the world in general.
Hon. Fallay impressed on his audience that children, especially orphans who have lost their parents to the pandemic should be provided for thereby creating the difference.
He emphasized the need for prevention and control of the disease.
"The youth have long being deprived. I am determined to reach out to them, restore their hope and embrace the facts of HIV/AIDS," he said.
In his contribution, councilor 'Small Borbor' lauded the efforts of the SLPP Member of Parliament for painstakingly educating his community that was vulnerable to the disease because of its geographical setting.
"Fish mongering is the livelihood of the people in my community which has attracted an influx of people. I fervently believe Hon. Fallay's youthfulness will inject a new spirit in the youths in the community," said Small Borbor.
Over 2,000 condoms were distributed to members of the community.
The event was climaxed by a football match between the Rest of Goderich and Brazil Football. Rest of Goderich emerged victorious with a 2 -1 sweep.
