Somalia: AU Troops Shot Dead Street Child

Mogadishu — African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) troops and particularly Ugandan troops who are based at the KM4 junction in Mogadishu shot dead a street child after they opened fire at him as they were passing by on Thursday night ccording to eyewitnesses.

The two were among mistreated street children in Mogadishu.

Residents of KM 4 said they heard gunfire last night and woke up to the body of a boy near the AMISOM base this morning, whereas AMISOM troops took the body of the injured boy to hospital.

It's yet unknown the motive that AU troops shot dead the young child.

No comments could be reached from AMISOM officials on this matter.

Uganda has committed around 1600 troops as part of the African Union peacekeeping initiative AMISOM.
