Kampala — NATIONAL road running champion Adero Nyakisi will warm up for the MTN Kampala International marathon by taking part in the Kampala Road race as one of the top favourites.

The race, due to start and end at Lugogo Indoor stadium today, is organised by Kampala District Athletics Association (KDAA).

Action is scheduled to begin at 9am.

Nyakisi, a Prisons club athlete, is among the favourite in the race and is lined up for another possible battle with UPDF star Catherine Webombesa.

Webombesa will also use the race to prepare for the MTN marathon set for November 23 at Lugogo.

"We are looking at all the Kampala teams to take part in the event," a KDAA member Andrew Olokojjo explained yesterday. "We also expect UPDF to send athletes to the event.

"Shoes donated by an American living in Kampala will be given to the top athletes."

Jackson Kiprop, who is also a member of the Prisons team like Nyakisi, is the favourite runner in the men's category.
