Angola: Ambassador Expresses Army's Readiness to Cooperate

10 October 2008

Abidjan — The ambassador of Angola to Côte d'Ivoire, Gilberto Buta Lutucuta, on Thursday expressed, in Abidjan city, the availability of the board of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) to cooperate, in various fields, with counterparts of other countries.

The diplomat, who was speaking on the sidelines of the 17th founding anniversary of FAA, marked on October 09, encouraged attachés to straighten friendship and working ties so as to contribute to the reinforcement of the respective armies.

He considered necessary equipping the African continent with a force capable of acting in peace keeping operations with efficacy.

The defence attaché with the Angolan diplomatic mission, brigadier Nassone João, summarised the training and role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the country's democratic institutions, of national unity and of the inaccessibility of borders.

In the current phase, he stressed the importance of its modernisation, particularly with the creation of the Higher Technical-Military Institute, meant to equip staves with high strategic, operational and tactical level.

He expressed, to counterparts, the availability of Angolan military training institutions to receive foreign candidates, especially from African countries.

On his turn, the chairperson of the Association of Military Attachés accredited to Côte d'Ivoire, the Senegalese Colonel Niang Talla, highlighted the structural and operational level achieved by FAA, having defended that it is an example that should be followed by other African forces.

Officers of the Ivorian armed forces, defence attachés and other diplomats attended the ceremony.
