Angola: 'Juridical Studies' Volumes Presented

10 October 2008

Luanda — Two manuals entitled "Juridical Studies Volume I, II" respectively, by Angolan lecturer and politician, Marcolino Moco, were presented Thursday in Luanda.

According to the author, the books focus on controversial topics for law professionals such as the evolution of the definition of Constitution and the difference between the Positive Law and Customary Law.

"I approach various pertinent issues, like the term constitution that has evolved so much since the 19th century until our days and there is need to follow and adjust to this development," he argued.

Marcolino Moco admitted that the topics he raises in his books are not "pacific" but are open to criticism and discussions, asserting that the manuals offer technical and scientific arguments that defend his position.

The volume I has 170 pages and the II has 197.

In her turn, Maria do Carmo Medina, lecturer of Family Law and presenter of the books, said the author is an investigator of the juridical sciences who is coming up with two manuals with high scientific value.

She said the two volumes approach the law subject in an innovating way with actual contents and great technical rigour.

In his turn, Constitutionalist Adérito Correia, another presenter of the manuals, highlighted the creative and undertaking spirit of the author of the books that served as his graduation theses.

Born in Huambo on July 19, 1953, Marcolino Moco has so far published the books "Raízes do Porvir" (1995) and "A luz alfabetizada das palavras" (2002).

He graduated in Law in 1985 by the Law Faculty of Agostinho Neto University (UAN) and is currently an Angola's Lusiadas University.

He held the posts of governor of Bie and Huambo provinces, minister of Youth and Sports, secretary general of the ruling MPLA party, prime minister of the Republic of Angola and Executive secretary of the Portuguese Speaking Community (CPLP).

The ceremony of launch was witnessed by academicians, jurists, diplomats, Government officials, politicians, students and other people.
