Eritrea: Zersenay Saunters to Another Staggering Victory

Asmara — Olympic Athlete Zersenay Tadese stood first in the IAAF/CAIXA World Half Marathon Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the afternoon hours today.

Zersenay Tadese is participating in the yearly half marathon race for the third time this year. He had previously stood first for 2 years in a raw, primarily in 2006 in Debrecen, Hungary and then again last year in Udine, Italy.

In today's race in Rio De-Janeiro, Eritrean Athlete Zersenay Tadese created a 5 kilometer gap between himself and Kenyan and Qatari athletes and run first place for more than 15 kilometers before entering the victory line.

The Olympic Athlete, registered a 1 minute and 58 seconds leading time to the second group of Athletes following him that was comprised of 2 Kenyan and 1 Qatari Athletes.

Following Zersenay, Patrick Misyoki and Ahmed Hasen from Qatar stood 2nd and 3rd respectively. Eritrean Athlete Michael Tesfay, who also participated in the race, stood 12.

In the half marathon race that took place in Rio De Janeiro today, Kenya stood first in the national rank, whereas Eritrean stood 2nd, Qatar 3rd, Ethiopia 4th, Brazil 5th and Rwanda 6th.
