Angola: Women's Role in Country Development Highlighted

Luanda — The Angolan minister of Family and Women Promotion, Genoveva da Conceição Lino, Friday in Luanda thanked the women from the various social walks for their role in the country's development process.

This was expressed during a courtesy meeting that gathered social partners of the government, government officials, representatives of churches, women associations of the civil society and political parties and other entities.

Genoveva Lino said that the courtesy meeting aimed at greeting and introducing herself to all represented Angolan women, with a gesture of recognition of what they have been doing for the country's development.

"The Angolan parliament has over 80 women, thanks to your effective and exemplary participation", stressed the minister, who expressed satisfaction at the pledge of the head of State, Jose Eduardo dos Santos, about the inclusion of a higher number of women in

decision making organs.

The meeting was also attended by the secretary general of the ruling party women wing (OMA), Luzia Inglês "Inga", the second vice speaker of the Parliament, Joana Lina Cristiano, the deputy minister of Family, Ana Paula do Sacramento Neto and MPs.
