Main draw matches in the Oceanic Bank-sponsored Governor's Cup Futures 1 are expected to serve off today at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan.

In the men's $15,000 tournament, Boy Westerhof from Holland, who won the first leg of the 7th edition of the Governor's Cup last year, is the top seed, with a world ranking of 297, while Szatmari Agnes from Romania, with a ranking of 215, is the top seed in the women's singles. The women's tournament is a $25, 000 event.

In the women's draw, Fatimah Abinu plays Blessing Samuel, while Ronke Akingbade take on Baranova Katarina of Slovakia even as Jael Thamphong of Thailand play Nigeria's Christie Agugbon.

Already, International Tennis Federation (ITF)'s supervisor, South African Martin Oosthuysen and his assistant, as well as the secretariat of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Secretary-General of the NTF, Olusola Luke have said that all arrangements had been concluded to ensure that matches hold without hitches.

At the weekend, most players whose points could not see them into the main draw, were engaged in qualifying matches to reach the main draw. They would join the other players whose points were enough to enter the point-awarding stage.

The final of the Futures 1 takes place October 18.
