Liberia: Country 's 'Football Politicians' to Appear in Zurich

D. Webster Cassell

12 October 2008

Information reaching this paper says that the country's leading football 'politicians' have been invited by the Federation of International Football (FIFA) so as to finally settle what was referred to as a major stumbling block involving some aggrieved clubs' officials and the FA authority.

The then crisis claimed the attention of FIFA prompting the world football body to send a representative to the country to look into the incident. While in the country, the FIFA representative successfully met with all of the parties involved in the crisis including the Ministry of Youth and Sports who was also accused of its consistent interference into the affairs of the FA activities.

As a result of subsequent complains forwarded to FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland, about the existing crisis coupled with the findings of the FIFA representative that visited the country, FIFA resolved to invite parties of the crisis to its headquarters to further probe the matter and find an amicable solution.

The invitation however will afford Liberia's leading football politicians the opportunity to whether directly or indirectly explain their plights to a more preferred body that would adequately addressed their concerns.

Those expected to leave for the FIFA probe according to information reaching this paper includes, Sports Minister Etmonia Tarpeh, Deputy Sports Minister, Marbue Richards and LFA president Cllr. Sumo Izetta Wesley as well as LFA Chief Scribe George Williams.

Other expected to travel to Zurich for the probe are Mr. Mustapha Raji, who will be representing the aggrieved clubs and Mr. Garmondeh Karngah, president of Mighty Barrolle.

Although the reason for Mr. Karngah inclusion on the trip remain unclear information gathered says he has been included as part of the delegate to 'blow horn' for the FA as a representative of the clubs that favor the FA decision to go ahead with the just ended national league.

The Mighty Barrolle's president inclusion on the trip has been questioned by several soccer pundits with some calling on the FA to clarify his inclusion.

The Zurich meeting is expected to run from October 19-22 with some high profile FIFA officials expected to conduct the probe.

Meanwhile, some soccer pundits have kindly requested that FIFA also investigate the claims of mismanagement of funds sent by that body to the local football house during the up coming investigation.
