Kampala — Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) selection panel has retained Davis Arinaitwe as skipper for the national team's build-up tour to Nairobi that commences today.
Arinaitwe first captained Uganda in the disastrous tour to Windhoek, Namibia in the ICC Division 2 World Cricket League and despite being under fire, the selectors have kept faith in the 21-year-old.
Former captain and leading batsman Joel Olweny was named vice captain for the new-look 14-man squad that also has debutants Emmanuel Nakaana (top-order batsman) and paceman Asad Sseyiga.
After missing out on the Windhoek trip, left-arm seamer Charles Waiswa ( fresh from a professional stint in England with Killamarsh C.C), Akbar Baig, Jonathan Ssebanja and robust opener Roger Mukasa Galiwango return to the national fold for the one-week tour.
Noticeably dropped is Martin Ondeko, Ahmed Yakub and Fred Isabirye.
Full team: A. Kyobe, L. Ssematimba, B. Musoke, Akbar Baig, Raymond Otim, Frank Nsubuga, Daniel Ruyange, J.Olweny, E.Nakaana, A.Sseyiga, R.Mukasa and D.Arinaitwe (captain).
