Sulley Muntari says he is relieved the Black Stars are through to the next stage of the joint 2010 African and World Cup qualifiers but hopes the team has learnt their lessons from a difficult campaign.
The Stars finished level on points with Gabon and Libya and managed to qualify only on goal difference. And while that thrills the Inter Milan player, he says it should necessitate a different approach in the next stage of qualifiers.
"It's a great thing to have qualified and we feel better now," he told KickOffghana.com.
"But we must take this opportunity to learn a lot. It makes us aware that there are many teams who will cause us problems. We should not have suffered until the end but today we proved that we are the better side."
Muntari reckons the difficult part of the job will come in the next half of the qualifiers and remains adamant members of the team desperately want to play in the World Cup again.
"Before the last World Cup we were nobodies," he said. "Afterwards we are well known so we want go there again.
"What makes it more special is that it is taking place in Africa. We just hope we stay free of injuries and players out come back in quickly."
