Mozambique: Portugal Willing to Cooperate in Justice Sector

12 October 2008

Maputo — The Portuguese Attorney-General, Fernando Pinto Monteiro, arrived in Maputo on Sunday for a four day visit to Mozambique, at the invitation of his Mozambican counterpart, Augusto Paulino

On his arrival at Maputo international airport, Monteiro told reporters he was completely willing to cooperate with Mozambique in all areas of mutual interest in the sphere of justice.

"I think this visit can increase the cooperation and collaboration between the judicial apparatuses of the two countries", he said, and could help improve the services provided to citizens by the legal system.

During his visit, Monteiro will visit the main Mozambican institutions of the administration of justice. He is accompanied by the National Director of the Portuguese Judicial Police (the equivalent of Mozambique's Criminal Investigation Police), Jose Maria Almeida Rodrigues.
