Nairobi — Tanzanian Bryson Nyenza on Sunday blew away the Kenyan challenge for the second time in two months to seal a comprehensive 10 stroke victory at KQ/KDN Diani Beach Masters.

The 27-year-old handicap one player carded a classy final round of three-under-par 69, holing six birdiers on his way to a 36-hole of level-par 144 at the par-72 Leisure Golf Club.

Nyenza opened with three-over-par 75 on Saturday for his final score which is a new DBM record after surpassing the previous of two-over-par held by the 2003 winner David Odhiambo, who is now a professional.

Kenya's national junior champion Stephan Anderson from Muthaiga snatched two birdies in a round of 79 but seven bogeys and a double bogey saw the off scratch handicap finish second on 10-over-par 154.

His second placing after a first round of 75, was enough for the youngster, who is also the Karen Challenge champion, to claim all the eight points towards the Kenya Data Network (KDN) Golfer of the year (Goty) series since Nyenza is not a Kenyan.

Nyali's Samuel Kahindi returned a final round of 79 to wind third on 156, beating Tanzanian Salum Dilunga on countback after signing for 79 in the last round.

Nyenza, who won Coast Open in August, launched his successful quest for his second major title on Kenyan soil with birdies on second and third but embraced problems on par-four seventh when his tee shot landed into the forest.

He two-putted the hole for a bogey to wrap up the first nine with one-under 35.

Nyenza then encountered similar hiccups to bogey par-four 10th and dropped a shot further on 12th when he pulled his tee shot to the bunker before he chipped to two-putt the hole.

Nyenza never looked back as he birdied a par-five 13th and went one-under with a breathtaking 30-feet putt on short hole 15th.
